Please Tell Me What To Do..

I was telling the class I was teaching the other night that we are surrounded by people who want someone to tell them what to do. This was certainly the way I grew up. It is certainly the way even today in the 21st century where most people live. “Tell me what to do”.

We seek out people to tell us what to do. We let pastors, doctors, and teachers tell us how to conduct our lives. We empower them to make major decisions for us based on preconceived notions that somehow because of their stature, they know best. We all simply bring out certain thoughts, cellular beliefs and blockages to support us in knowing what we need to do for ourselves.

My knowing for you is that you will know that within you lies all the intelligence in the universe. It is okay to get opinions but you are the director of your life. May you only participate in programs, churches and tribal gatherings where people will empower you and see your divine magnificence for that is all you truly need to know.

Struggle is Necessary

A man found a cocoon of an emperor moth. He took it home so that he could watch the moth come out of the cocoon. On the day a small opening appeared, he sat and watched the moth for several hours as the moth struggled to force the body through that little hole.

The moth seemed to be stuck and appeared to have stopped making progress. It seemed as if it had gotten as far as it could and it could go no farther. The man, in his kindness, decided to help the moth; so he took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon. The moth then emerged easily. But its body was swollen and small, its wings wrinkled and shriveled.

The man continued to watch the moth because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand and be able to support the body, which would contract in time. Neither happened! In fact, the little moth spent the rest of its life crawling around with a small, swollen body and shriveled wings. It never was able to fly.
The man in his kindness and haste did not understand that the struggle required for the moth to get through the tiny opening was necessary to force fluid from the body of the moth into its wings so that it would be ready for flight upon achieving its freedom from the cocoon. Freedom and flight would only come after the struggle. By depriving the moth of a struggle, he deprived the moth of health.

Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life. If we were to go through our life without any obstacles, we would be crippled. We would not be as strong as what we could have been. Give every opportunity a chance, leave no room for regrets, and don’t forget the power in the struggle.

The Greatest Wealth In The World

The young cheerful girl with bouncy golden curls was almost five. With her mother at the checkout stand, she saw them: a circle of glistening white pearls in a pink foil box. “Oh please, Mommy. Can I have them? Please, Mommy, please!”

Quickly the mother checked the back of the little foil box and then looked back into the pleading blue eyes of her little girl’s upturned face. “A dollar ninety-five. That’s almost $2.00 If you really want them, I’ll think of some extra chores for you and in no time you can save enough money to buy them for yourself. Your birthday’s only a week away and you might get another crisp dollar bill from Grandma.”

As soon as Jenny got home, she emptied her penny bank and counted out 17 pennies. After dinner, she did more than her share of chores and she went to the neighbor and asked Mrs. McJames if she could pick dandelions for ten cents. On her birthday, Grandma did give her another new dollar bill and at last she had enough money to buy the necklace.

Jenny loved her pearls. They made her feel dressed up and grown up. She wore them everywhere — Sunday school, kindergarten, even to bed. The only time she took them off was when she went swimming or had a bubble bath. Mother said if they got wet, they might turn her neck green.

Jenny had a very loving daddy and every night when she was ready for bed, he would stop whatever he was doing and come upstairs to read her a story. One night when he finished the story, he asked Jenny, “Do you love me?”

“Oh yes, Daddy. You know that I love you.”

“Then give me your pearls.”

“Oh, Daddy, not my pearls. But you can have Princess — the white horse from my collection. The one with the pink tail. Remember, Daddy? The one you gave me. She’s my favorite.”

“That’s okay, Honey. Daddy loves you. Good night.” And he brushed her cheek with a kiss.

About a week later, after the story time, Jenny’s daddy asked again, “Do you love me?”

“Daddy, you know I love you.”

“Then give me your pearls.”

“Oh Daddy, not my pearls. But you can have my baby doll. The brand new one I got for my birthday. She is so beautiful and you can have the yellow blanket that matches her sleeper.”

“That’s okay. Sleep well. God bless you, little one. Daddy loves you.” And as always, he brushed her cheek with a gentle kiss. A few nights later when her daddy came in, Jenny was sitting on her bed with her legs crossed Indian-style. As he came close, he noticed her chin was trembling and one silent tear rolled down her cheek. “What is it, Jenny? What’s the matter?” Jenny didn’t say anything but lifted her little hand up to her daddy. And when she opened it, there was her little pearl necklace. With a little quiver, she finally said, “Here, Daddy. It’s for you.”

With tears gathering in his own eyes, Jenny’s kind daddy reached out with one hand to take the dime-store necklace, and with the other hand he reached into his pocket and pulled out a blue velvet case with a strand of genuine pearls and gave them to Jenny. He had had them all the time. He was just waiting for her to give up the dime-store stuff so he could give her genuine treasure.

What are you hanging on to?

As we continue to turn our junk-store jewelry over to God we open ourselves up to accept the Pearls that was intended for us all along.

“Near Life” Experiences

In my book, How to Speak Unity, I discuss the gift of Life.

“Life is a gift. It is given without instructions, directions, or an owner’s manual. Life is a performance with no dress rehearsal and a great symphony with very few encores. Some people have near death experiences, yet what if we focus more on the “near life” experiences? True living means giving all that we are and have to everything we do. Life mirrors the enthusiasm and commitment we bring to it. Loving people live in a loving world, lonely people live in a lonely world and stressed people live in a stressful world. When we are asking life to give us something, we will receive it when we start to bring it our awareness. In other words, we get what we bring. The quality of life is not measured by the numbers of years but by the understanding that life happens to us by happening through us.”

Need help quickly to stop euthanization of animals in Abadiania, Brazil- urgent request!!!

My name is Temple Hayes and I am the founder of Life Rights, a grassroots movement towards honoring life in all living things. As a Spiritual leader of a large Unity community in St Petersburg, Florida – I was shocked when I went on a journey to Abadiania, Brazil to see John of God and experienced all the suffering that goes on with the animals within the Casa as well as on the streets.

There is a vet, Dr.Turene Frazio and his wife Fatima who put all of their resources into helping take the dogs and cats off the streets and keeping the animals alive. Needless to say, not everyone is supportive in the immediate circle of influence and this is evident there.

I personally supported 9 dogs coming back to the states so they may have a deserving healthy life. The spiritual stories are amazing – how these families lives have changed, how miracles have happened – but of course, these animals pick up all the energy from all the people from all over the world at the Casa praying for change, hope and inspiration. All of us who are in tune with animals know that these animals carrying these same energies within themselves.

I was shocked to hear that the veterinarian office was informed by the city that they were being closed down and if they do not have a new place to go within the next 2-4 weeks, all the animals will be euthanized. The veternarians will be out of business and there will be no hope for the animals in Abadiania.

You can go to my website: www.TempleHayes.org and review the SOFI project.
We need help and we need it quickly. If you know anyone who is famous like Ellen, Oprah, Doris Day, Betty White, Sarah McLaughlin, Bob Barker’s foundation, the news media….any of these could get the news to stop this vicious act of cruelty.

It is too much of a contrast – going to have a sacred experience while all around… life is suffering and being ignored.

Please help – you can donate to our 501c3 and all is tax deductible. Do not hesitate to contact me at Temple@templehayes.org
